How to remove weather stripping

How do you remove weather stripping without damage to paint and the weather stripping. I was thinking a heat gun set on low.

If it stuck to a flat surface that you get at both sides of it, use 12 t0 20 lb fishing line. Get it under by the glue and work it back and forth while pulling it. A guy at a body shop showed me that on one of my window visors when I hit a deer. they took it off to paint the door.

3M makes a weatherstrip adhesive remover. It comes in an aerosol can and you can probably find it at a Napa store. Product isn't perfect but will help remove the adhesive without ruining the paint. I think others make a similar product.

You can also use graffiti remover. Less expensive and won't harm existing paint.

X2 on 3M's Adhesive Remover. Works well on many types of adhesives and is not harmful to paint.
