How to remove broken venturi from Zenith carb?

Decided to rebuild a Zenith carb today and had difficulty in separating the upper and lower bodies. Finally got them apart but broke the venturi in the process and now have a piece in the upper and a piece in the lower body.
Any suggestions on getting the pieces out? Did some tapping but they seem stuck. Plan to put some heat on them tomorrow to see if that will release them.

Jim,

Suggestion: It would be a good idea to wear a FULL FACE shield if heating a carb body with the pot metal ventruri stuck in the bore.

I was heating a carb body recently and there was a loud sound like a gun shot and a piece of potmetal the size of my thumb nail and 1/8 inch thick went zooming by my ear.

EDITED: I was wearing goggles but no face shield! Could have damaged a tooth!

Made a buzzing sound as it went by! I have heated a number of them and this is the second one that did this.

Jim,
I think I have tried all the different methods, abd finally concluded/agreed that heating the carb and dousing in a bucket of water works best and easiest. I have probably done 20 seized venturis this way.

See the thread Carburetor Dis-assembly Methods on Ford Barn

Yep, that's the best way that has worked for me also. This is also the method I use to get stuck brass seats loose. Sometimes it takes two heats, but always works if the correct size screwdriver is also used.

I made my own puller using a carriage bolt washers a nut, and a large socket. Works on both pieces, takes about 2 minutes to set up ad use, works great for me.

Would heating the body in an oven reduce the likelyhood of uneven heating and a fracture? At a minimum the oven would contain a projectile should there be an air pocket in the casting.

Well it's out thanks to all the advice received on this board. Using the full face shield as recommended I heated it with oxy-aceryline torch and quenched in a pail of water. Did both top and bottom three times and I was able to pull/drive both pieces of the venturi out of the carb. Did not experience any reaction from the pot metal as a result of the heat. The heat also worked well on one of the brass screws that I messed up using a poor fitting screwdriver. OLD TOO SOON SMART TOO LATE.
Again thanks to all that offered advice and comments.
