How to remove 36 revolving ashtray

I am trying to get the revolving ashtray out of my 36 dash. It revolves to open but then what to remove it so I can retsore it?????

Once you've revolved it into the open position [ie where it's ready to receive ash], simply pull the ash recepticle towards yourself. It simply pulls off. [this is so one can empty it] Then you can rotate the cover back 90 odd degrees to access the screw that holds it in. undo the screw, and the rest comes out, leaving the bracket still attached in the dash, that unclips; one side then the other.

Rotate the ashtray totally open. Grab the edge of the insert and pull out the ashtray itself. Rotate the cover back about half way and you will see a screw in the back of the holder. Remove this screw and the rest of the ashtray will come out.

If you are planning on restoring it, please be aware that the revolving ash tray is 1935 not 36. See 36 style below.

Don is correct regarding the 36 ashtray. Attached is a photo of the backside of the ashtray showing the attachment and screws.
