Guys,
I have bead blasted my aluminum intake manifold and it looks great. How can I keep it looking that way? Shall I spray a clear coat on it?
Thanks,
Peder
The restorers have been using a process for many years on die cast and aluminum sand castings to "restore" the original finish. It consists of a cleaning process followed by a Vibriatory process using a media that contains aluminum. This puts a skin on the surface of the part that makes the part look very close to an originl casting and will stay clean and grease or oil will not soak into it and when necessary, you can wash the part and the finish will not come off. I have been using this process for years to "Restore" castings with very good results.
There are several companies around the country that do it. Look in Hemmings. I use a company here in Southern California. The cost is VERY reasonable and the turn-around time is usually 2-3 days. They will also deal with stuff shipped to them and there is no minimum. If interested, let me know, and I will look up the contact information for you.
I use powder coat on steel parts, but for aluminum castings, I like this process better.
Just my opinion,
Chris
Chris I would be interested in knowing who to contact for the Vibriatory process.
thanks

Chris,
Thanks. I would also like the contact information if it's not too much trouble.

They do work with UPS so you can send your stuff to them.
