How to install a Manifold Heater?

Just to be on the safe side I put a carbon monoxide detector on the floor near the heater outlet in to the cabin. I do this once on about the first tour of the season.

Never had a problem but don't want one

In the past I have used a section of a pre-heater hose. You can measure the opening and then go to the parts store to ask for that diameter.

I use 2" aircraft "hot" air ducting cut into about a 1" long section. It generally will last a season or two before it wears out. Many aircraft maintenance shops probably would have scraps to give away or it can be purchased online through a website:

I use a couple of very long hose clamps (7 " +/- diameter)around the autolite heater as well as the manifolds. It takes no time and requires no screwing around with head nuts, distributors, and such.

I left mine open, works fine! But I have a coupe with a small cabin volume. My T.S. will be closed up.
