How Much Torque?

Hello All,
How much should the rear hub be torqued on a Model A?
As always, thanks for your help!

I believe most torque the rear axle nut to 100 psi. Ensure the taper is clean when you install the hub/drum.

I generally go to about 80 ftlb, then go to the next slot in the nut. I have several spare nuts gathered over the years so that I can get the split pin in without having to go too far (say, not more than 100-120ftlb)

Degrease the axle and hub and apply a little Locktite. I torque more than most people. Check the torque after 100 miles then every year. The axle, hub, and key can all be damaged if the hub is wearing on the axle.

This is my practice which has been successful for over 50 years. I apply 50-55lbs-ft of torque to the axle nut.
