How much pressure on the waterpump seal?

I have several pumps here with the modern waterpump seal with a spring loaded ceramic ring, riding on a carbon ring. I have not found any instructions, how much the spring should be tensioned. The seal assembly allows a maximum of 2mm extra pressure. Should I assemble with only 0,5mm or go up to 1,5mm?

I rebuild water pumps at least weekly, mostly for tractor and truck engines. They all use the type seal you have and all are installed with 1 to 1.5mm of preload tension.
