I was just wondering, how many spare flathead V-8 engines are being held on to by Fordbarners? I got into Ford flatheads again in 2006 since selling my `53 Mercury in the 70's. Since 2006 I have collected four. A 59AB in case the 21 stud pukes in my `35, a `41 in case the 59AB pukes, an 8RT for my `51 pickup replacing the H engine (we called them Hot water sixes in the old days) and an 8BA to back up the 8RT. I just recently bought these two from a fellow Fordbarner. So you see, I can justify having those engines lying around in case the little woman should ask.
But too, they are truly a work of art, pleasant to look at, seriously. But I would almost bet I am not the only Fordbarner that just likes having them around, just in case...
