how many spacers on lower control arm?

I am about ready to re-install the lower control arms on my 57 wagon:D. I have Anti-seized the bolts to death and so far everything fits on the right side. I have to weld a spacer in on the back of the cross member on the left-hopefully tomorrow. But looking at the diagrams in the catalogues, they show three spacers behind the front bolt but in-front of the bushing. I am assuming that the set up gets installed in the following order:

-Bolt
-frame
-spacer
-control arm
-large washer and bolt with lock washer

Is this correct? How many spacers do I need? I did not pull three out of each arm. I think it was only two on each side.

The numbers of spacers is the required amount to close any gap as frame assembly measurements varied slightly off the fabrication line.

BASIC PN 3054 SHIM - Number Used AR (as required).

Ok. I installed the bushing up to the little raised marks so now there little to no gap between them and the frame. Thanks for the info K.

A little story about this. Back in the late 70's, I built a Tee Bucket frame. It was 3/16 out when measured criss cross. I asked one of the engineers at the Ford plant where I worked what the factory spec was an a new frame. It took a few days, but he did get back to me, the spec at the time was plus or minus 3/8 on any measurement. That means the same measurement could have been 3/4 on a new car.

Well, I tried to spot weld the space on the front cross member today-no dice. My little 110 TIG thought I was welding on a battleship. SO I will have to JB weld it in place for now. Then I will bolt the left lower arm in place. There is just about 1/16" play to let both arms move front to back. I will try a washer to see if it takes that out. Otherwise I will bolt everything up and next week-I hope to get the springs in.
