HEY: that's a very very good idea. I would like to know that myself. If you ever find some way of doing that let me know. I would like to help you on that one. Try MAFCA and see if there's some one has all ready did that if not let me know maybe we can start some thing like that. If you did start that I'm sure I would not be the only one that would want to help. But good idea let me know reggiedog
Perhaps that's the reason we still have an active vendor base for parts.
My Impala is one of 10 million made, we still have a VERY active vendor base with competitive pricing.
As the number of cars in roadable condition drops, you'll know it by the increased pressure of the vendors to stay in business. I'm more worried about the lack of new blood coming in to take these cars off of our admittedly older driver/mechanic base!
There must be a thousand that have been restored and have sat in museums and private collections all over the world and will probably never be "on the road" ever again.
That question has been asked many times. The answer is no. However that has not stopped everyone from guessing. I have seen estimates from 20,000 to 1,000,000. No one knows for sure.
There's really no way to tell and you haven't defined any parameters. Are you only counting original running A's,restored but not running As, ,hot rodded A's, rebuilt from parts or fiberglas A's? And, ultimately, I can't see that it matters.
A strange turn, is that the number is growing, instead of shrinking. People are bringing back "A"s from a pile of parts, nowdays. Not too long ago, there was a thread about a man, who started with only a gas tank. I think he has it running now. MIKE
