How about a Speedster Picture Thread?

I would love a speedster thread. I don't consider them hot rods as long as they are based on the model A or T running gear.

On post #80 by RockHillWill he talks of pictures, but all I see are small icons. I see this type of icon often on other posts. I am signed in to site but still unable to open these pictures. Why?

Brent,
Thanks for sending the website. I wanted to learn how I could view the pictures myself. Like I said all I see are several blue icons. I have seen it on opera posts and was unable to view the pictures. Can you tell me how?

For me, the pictures that are shown as thumbnails show up both at home and at work. All the other pictures only show up at home. Must be something in the firewall at work.

Am I too late?
Been a while since anyone has posted to this thread...

Just a quick question....thought I might get away with it on this thread, rather than start a new one and get invited to go to the HAMB.

Anyone ever do an "underslung" conversion? Looks like a great way to lower the frame for a speedster.

Pros? Cons?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Hi Everyone

Im ability new to all of this, but I recently purchased a 1928 speedster and have been looking everywhere for information but getting no where.

The car is a Model A in a Willys chassis built circa 28/29 and known as. Brooklyn or Brooklands Speedster.

Allegedly 1 of 138 built, single seater in lieu of the popular 2 seat conversion to accommodate a mechanic around that time.

Pictures as per below.

I am trying to find info on the manufacturer, where it was raced, images and historical articles from races and events it may have competed in around that time.

Any help is sincerely appreciated

Many thanks
Darcy

I enjoy the Speedsters so much that I had to build my own. 1930 Speedster with original Model A chassis and cowl. Counter balanced "B" engine with Miller Overhead, dual Stromberg carbs, alternator, straight exhaust, body built up with over 300 wood Red Cedar strips, each one cupped, coved and glued using 12 to 15 wood clamps for the glue up. Body features a Rumble seat that folds down with a wood cover to give the design the nice boattail look. Dash is custom made to include oil pressure and water temp gauges, wood steering wheel is a copy of the LaPierce wood wheel ( I made 10 of these, could never find an original LaPierce). Dual horns, signal lights, dual taillights with custom wood brackets. Original Model A running boards, no plans for making wood fenders. Over three months to build up the body, no plans, hours???, I did not keep track. I fit the windshield too tight and it cracked several places when the wood dried. Still have to install new glass.
