garyb1, I use distilled water and a product called water wetter in my 8BA flathead. This works for me in So Cal. My temp runs between 160-180 degrees.

distilled water is my choice as well,its pure and doesn't contain the impurities that regular water contains that cause scale and build up.Water wetter is a great rust inhibitor as well as water pump lubricant.I run temps of between 160 and 180 all day long,never overheated
