Anyone running a hot water heater in their A? How well do they work?
Anyone tried the new ones that some of the Model A part suppliers sell?

Thanks, Steve

Steve,I had one in my Tudor. It worked nice.I took it out to do some work, and I wanted to reposition it.One of the water hoses was only about 1/2 inch from the exhaust manifold.I never got around to putting it back in.I never tried one of the new ones,I just take old box heaters out of old cars or trucks.I have a couple in the shed now.

I put one in my 30' Tudor last fall & am very happy with the results. The only permanent mod. is the two 1/2" holes I drilled into the firewall to run the water to the heater core. I bought the predrilled water inlet casting & ran the hoses on the drivers side & used brass ribbed push on type fittings to go thru the firewall to reduce the hole size. The biggest problem I ran into was a good fan inside the car & solved it with a computer fan. They run on 5 to 8 volts and are only about 1" thick & it really pushes the air. I do have pictures, if you are interested I can email them to you. Mine is jkmoln@atlanticbb.net.

Most of the Model A suppliers sell the same generic unit about 7" square, and people I have talked to say they are fine. The ones I see advertised are one speed, except that Sacramento Vintage lists a two speed model. Also, if you don't normally use a thermostat, you're going to want to use one with the heater because by the time you get to your destination it might be just starting to warm up. JMHO

I have an old one that came with my car 50 years ago and it worked so well I got overheated. I took it out a number of years ago but have thought about putting it back in!
