hot starting issue

I have a 64 Galaxie 500 XL with a 390 engine. It starts fine when cold and runs well until warm and I shut it off. It will start up again but when i put it in gear it stalls out and the engine diesels for several seconds. I have place a phenelic block under the carb. Any help would be appreciated. It is a rebuilt engine.

Sounds like the choke is not adjusted correctly.

Cold weather only?
