hot alternator

I have a 1930 A with a 12v conversion kit. the amp gauge reads over
20 amps at all times and the alternator gets hot. it has a new battery.
any suggestions?

Had the same symptons on the way to french lick?
Changed it out with my spare. Was told it was a proplem in the regulater internal to the alt???
Sent it back to be repaired!

Don't mess around. Bite the bullet and take the alternator to an auto electric shop. It's not that much work to take it in and out. Sounds like its voltage regulator is shot. Most alternators used in Model A's have the regulator built in inside the case, but some are external.
