The thermstats keep climbing up into my rad hoses, any ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks Coolcoupe

Try installing an extra set of hose clamps around where the thermostat rests. This should keep them in place. Steve

Guess I don't get it. Mine are in housings, next to the block, bolted on. No way can they go up the hose. They're way bigger...slim

Another way to fix thermostats in place is to get a couple pieces of pvc pipe that will just fit into hoses, inch or so long each, place in hoses above thermostats and use a second clamp on these pieces,no way they will move with these in place.

If you want to keep the stock look with just 1 hose clamp you can obtain a piece of thin brass shim stock and cut some narrow strips. Place the strips equi-distant around the top of the t-stat and solder in place. Then fold down the ends of the strips to fit around the outlet. When you install the clamp it will hold the t-stats in place as the rubber will readily conform to the shape. I usually use 3 or 4 tabs depending on the configuration of the top of the t-stat.

Gary, very helpful tip on how to hold the thermostats in place with out garbaging up the hoses with clamps....I like it! LouB.

I drilled the neck of the head in 2 places and tapped for 6/32 pan hd screw and drilled thru the support towers on the stats and they stay in place and no extra clamps or peices in the hose that might move like mine did with Skips pumps. Just drill the holes high enough to be above the hose clamps and no leaks.
Regards, Don

I found one recently with a small hole on each side through the t-stat and through the side of the water outlet, then a piece of wire wrapped around and twisted tight....

i read somewhere a guy put the thermostats at the radiator upper inlets, sounds like a good idea to me

Here are two different thermostats for the '32 - '36 Fords with the water pumps in the heads that I have. Ed
