horn

I have a horn that has no label on it. the set screw is very touchy, if I turn it one click either way it either works or has a steady blast. By the way there are no holes for a label on the can. I guess I need help with getting it Identified and running right. a brake down would help with the fixing..

Thanks Dwight

There were 5 different horn manufactures. You probable have a Stewart Warner, they had the least markings. The EA was quite prominent, the GIM and Ames not as much and the Spartan had the tag that goes on the can with the holes. They all work about the same. If you go to YouTube.com/modelatimes there is a video showing the assembly of the horn.

I'm at a point where I think I would like to find a rebuilt horn, does anyone have Info where I can get one? I have tried a new kit and that did not help.. Thanks Dwight

I had two A guys look at it and we thought it just needed cleaning and we did that, but the adjustment is only one click one way or another. I should have taken pic;s when I had it apart for the 100th. time, but I didn't. Dwight

The pull on the motor frame from the cover screw can also affect the horn sound.

My horn is also sensitive to one click, but that can set the sound OK.

A&L Parts Canton, CT 860-693-0112. They make a perfect reproduction horn. Looks and works as original. You can get a Sparton or Stewart Warner. This is an easy way to go.
