Horn Ring Removal - 1942 car

I bought a real nice steering box/column/wheel assembly for a '42 car (maybe '46) and I am disassembling it. The full horn ring is in great shape but I have not figured out how to remove it from the wheel without risk of damage. How is it attached to the wheel?

Thanks, that looked like the right thing to do but I was afraid to use too much force. The horn ring is a gem and I would hate to break it.
 
Hi all; On mine thw sponge pad under the horn button was rotten and itmade the removal tricky, you'll ease it off. Newc
