Horn/Electrical problem

I have replaced the main wiring harness on my 30 A. Rebuilt the horn and replaced the taillight. Horn and light worked perfect. Then something happened and both don't work AND the black horn button gets red hot in the center of the steering wheel. There's obviously a short somewhere but the bulb that holds the wiring harness is not hot at all.
Anyone experienced this before??

STUDY the wiring Diagram, you've got SOMETHING crossed up, SOMEWHERE??? Disconnect the battery, before you catch it ON FIRE!!!

Here is the drawing;

Under what circumstances does the button get red hot? All the time only when the button is pushed?

If we follow the diagram, battery to junction box, box to ammeter, through the ammeter to box, box to cutout, cutout to horn, horn to center of the light switch, switch to the button and when button is pushed it goes back to the battery and the horn blows.

I would;
Check the connections as compared with the drawing here of the horn.
pull the wires from the horn
using a meter or test light, see if there is voltage on only one wire.

Let us know what you find.

I would look inside the light switch to see if the power wire is touching the center horn terminal. Actually since it's easier to remove the horn cover, just do that first, then make sure neither of the two horn contacts are connected to ground or shorted to each other. Plug the power wire into the horn and ground the other horn terminal. If the horn works correctly, then look inside the light switch for the problem.
