Horn Button

The horn is "hot" all the time. The horn wire goes up thru the light rod and when you push the button, it grounds the wire, completing the circuit.

the horn button just grounds out the wire that comes up from the switch bail.

Power goes to the horn first (from the cutout on the generator), from the horn to the bail at the end of the steering column, then up through the column to the horn button. pushing the button just grounds out the wire completing the circuit.

if there is no wire in there it will never work.

I don't see any wire in my "light rod"
Maybe that's why your horn isn't working? There's a wire that comes off the cutout on the generator that goes to one terminal on the horn, the other terminal in the horn has a wire that goes to the center terminal on the light switch. These are both hot wires looking for a ground to complete the circuit. A wire runs through the center of the horn rod down to a plastic(bakelite) insulator on the end of the horn rod that has only a small metal contact that makes contact with that center contact in the light switch. That wire in the horn rod is now hot too, looking for a ground. Up at the other end of the horn rod there is a metal contact at the end of the wire, and when you press the horn button, it touches that contact and that closes the circuit, grounding it through the steering column.

I don't see any wire ends. I don't know why, but I am just not getting this. I'm going to order a new horn rod from Snyders cause mine, at the steering wheel, doesn't look good

It looks like the wire, the horn button and the button retainer (escutcheon) are all missing

You have the wire ends, you are looking at them on both ends. The one at the bottom is a brass contact embedded in that black plastic at the end.At the top it is that contact in the center. That rides on a piece of metal,(missing)and grounds out when you push the button. You don't actually see a wire.Unles you are good at finding and tinkering up used parts you will need a new assembly. You will need to measure the old rod before you order.
