Horn blowin while goin

I have a 1930 Tudor and as I'm driving the car, the horn will begin to blow. It begins to make noise in a limited way, but not like I'm pushing the horn button.

When I move the light switch to any "on" position the horn will stop trying to blow. I've sprayed a little WD-40 but that has not helped.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

The wire inside the horn rod may be shorting to ground. You may have to remove the horn rod and replace the wire inside the rod.

I have the same issue from time to time as I am turning .... How big a job is it to do ? Should I have some new parts handy to to replace while I am in there ?

First look at the wiring in the light switch to make sure the horn wire isn't touching ground or the headlight terminals, both of which could make the horn blow at times unexpectedly.

I haven't rewired a horn rod, so I can't say how big a job it is.

Sometimes the center horn spring connector on the lightswitch plate (with all the wires going to it) wobbles and makes contact with the upper switch rotating plate (some repros have a smaller hole) as you are turning the steering wheel. My solution was to take a piece of shrink tubing and slide it over the spring contact, leaving only the face of the contact clear to touch the horn rod end.

Hello Harry,
If the problem is the wiring in the column it maybe easy to do on the Pepsi truck, as the big back window is most likely easy to remove, in which case the long tube in the column will probably pass thru, this would save removing it completely --- the vendors have a repair kit.

I thought I read that somewhere about having to pull the column to repair . Yes my back window is removable :D( Thank God ) I think I will live with it for now .... Maybe be an " in the fall before we store her " job ... I will look up the parts and order in for now and have ready .. Thanks Brian :)

Hi there
Go with Ray!
I had the same prob and did that some days ago - 30 Minutes job (max).
No need to take out column and leave the oil in your car....
