Horm Button Question

I am new to this forum, so I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else, but I did a search and did not see the response I am looking for.

I have a 1931 Deluxe Roadster (owned about 2 years). Sometime mid last year, I noticed the horn not working. The horn button is very loose and easily rolled around in the housing.

I have taken the end of the steering column off, but have not removed the "c" clip/ spring / yoke as yet. My question(s):

Does this sound like the spring under the button is broken? Or is there something else I should be looking at? If it is the spring under the button, is there a way of removing the button and spring from the top, or must I pull the horn/light rod out to get access to the button/spring?

I have not been able to find a drawing / sketch / schematic of this part and how it is held in place.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When you get it apart be sure to scrape the carbon off the contact point on the back side of the button, also the corresponding contact on the rod.

however is is likely better to consider just replacing the entire light switch and horn rod with a new reproduction.

When you remove your old one you can measure its length and order the appropriate replacement. There are several different lengths.

....really......?

Is the little cage that holds the horn button on available as a separate part? I don't see it listed in any of the catalogues.
