I am in search of a 1930-31 rear hood retainer. I have looked all over and can't seem to find any place that has them in stock.

I've been looking for over a year and haven't seen one. Same with 31 TS left rear scroll door handle.
 
I have a couple of rear 30-31 hood retainers I no longer need, but they don't have the tail on them like the picture. I am not a 30/31 person (28/29 for me), so I don't know what models they are for. If you need more info, PM me.

Thanks Rusty. The chrome one shown above is for the 30/31 deluxe models. I have a standard one on my car but thought the chrome with the cowl band finger would be a nice addition. Been keeping an eye out for over a year with the suppliers and haven't seen any yet.
 
The "deluxe" hood hinge retainer was an accessory and originally made in stainless steel. I have a couple on my cars. Be advised that some fitting is usually required in order to not affect the fit of the hood and avoid dimpling the cowl band. I've never used a reproduction retainer but imagine that these cautions would apply to them as well. They do look nice when fitted properly. Try to find an original if you can.
 
Hey wrndln, I wonder if I can get a chrome or plated version of what you have anywhere?

400A - I do have that dimple in my band from my retainer. I currently have my tank out getting the works so while I have my band off I plan on gently working that dimple out.
 
I looked into the July 1, 1931 Parts Price List for part numbers of the hood hinge rod retainer. I am confused! On Page 37 there are sketches of A-16735-AR and A-16735-B. The A-16735-AR has a usage of 1928-1930, and the "R" indicates it was continued a service part. The A-16735-B is shown as the hook type that engages the cowl band, and has a usage of 1930 & 1931. No body style usage is indicated. The hood hinge rod retained without the hook which is by far the most common found on 1930 & 1931 Model A's is not shown or listed.
Does anybody have the factory info for the plain 1930-31 hood hinge retainer?
 
If enough interest, I’d consider making them …brass and plate not SS. I have originals but not for sale. Could cast from them
