Hood Question

My hood top two pieces have a hole in the hinges that the rod falls through, all bent out of size. Does anybody have a way to fix this problem.

I took a slightly smaller dowl, inserted the lenght of the hood, clamped the hood down to a wooden bench, and used a leather (or wood) mallet and closed them up to tighten. I also put SS rods, spun in with a drill, after.
