Hood ID

I was thinking the same thing when I looked earlier this am, but did not have the time to compare the 30-31 hood with a 28-29 Briggs fordor hood. Rod

methinks its a combination of 30 and 29 hoods
the painted side appears to be 30 the rusty side is 29
notice the louvers have the panel around them on the painted side
and there is no panel on the 29 side
its too hard to see if the painted top is 30 also, but i think it is

Tom,
I looked again. It does appear the side panels are both 30/31 as there is a raised area around the louvers. The top panel also looks like a 30/31 or 28/29 fordor. I think the listing in in error.

Yes, it's a '30-31 hood. It had me fooled until I looked at the full sized pics. It's worth noting they are longer than '28-29 hoods so you can't mix them without some cutting!

Fred,

Some tips for visual ID:
-Early 28 hoods had bottom edge of louvers parallel to bottom of side panel, all others (later 28 thru 28), the top edge of lovers were parallel to the hinge line. Also, early 28 hood handles have two rivets per handle...the rest have 4 per handle.
-28/29 Fordor hoods have a bead between top of louvers and hinge...not present on other 28/29 hoods.
- Rectangular area all around 30/31 hood louvers is raised, 30/31 hoods also have bead between louvers and hinge, but is distance between bead and hinge is much closer than 28/29 Fordor.

I agree with Tudortomnz...30/31 hood in ad.
