Hood Hinge Screws

Apparently it's a common problem to have the two rear female threads on the hood hinge socket to become stripped. These captive nuts/threads cannot be easily replaced. Has anyone developed a "neat trick" to repair or fasten down this rear hood hinge socket?

some people put the wrong size screws in the rear retainer, they should be 12/24. are you sure the nuts are stripped. if they are and you need a quick fix get some longer 12/24`s screws and have someone put some nuts on from under the tank. if you have the tank out you can replace the nuts.

If you have a restored car, I'd drill and tap a piece of steel and apply some super adheasive of your choosing to hold it in place while the screws hold it in place while drying. Bob
