Hood handles.

Does anybody have a link to Hood Handle restoration or information on them as to what differences there were for different years. Apart from the 2 hole base for 1930 and the 3 hole for 28/29 there are quite a few other differences in the manufacture.
Pictured are 3 different central housings I have in my possession.
Any info is welcome.

I have done some research on hood latches in the past. The hood latch body on the right in your picture is used with early forged latches. The hood latch body in the center of you picture is for the later styles with the pressed steel hook style latch. All the forged latches I have (about 30) have the body style on the right in your picture. I have a few, maybe 10, pressed steel hook style latches that all have the body like the one in the center of your picture. I am not 100% sure that all forged style latched had the double cut style body and the pressed style had the single cut pressed steel hooks, but from what I have seen and what I have, it sure looks that way. I don't know why Ford changed the style. BTW, there is an excellent article in a 2006 Model A News issue that describes how to restore original latches. If you are interested in it, send me a PM and I can give you more info.

There was an excellent artical in the November/December 2006 issue of "Model A News". It had a good breakdown of the restoration and part suppliers for the hood latches. I crossed referenced the specifications of the parts and found some of them available locally. They used a dowel pin but I opted to cut my own out of drill rod.
