I've got new hood bumper rubbers and leather corners. What/how do you set the tubular rivits? Or easier to use screws and nuts? It's a driver, not fine point.
Thanks in advance.

You need a tubular rivet setting tool, like what is used on brake rivets. I use a floor model foot operated brake rivet machine in my shop.

Don't even think about screws and nuts! you'd never hear the end of it! Setting the tubular rivets is easy. Just buy the tool and have a heavy bucking tool and you can install the rivets without removing the hood. I always put a drop of oil on the tool to help the rivet roll and to help save the tool.

Hi Paul,I have a rivet tool that I use for my toy train repair,I used it on my hood bumpers and my headlight spring loaded hold down clamp. Came out perfect.I am also in CT call me and maybe we can get together and make the repair. 203-464-4398

Dennis/CT: that would be great, any chance of borrowing, will leave deposit, pickup and return? Give me an excuse to go to Jimmie's. I'm in New Britain
