hood adjustment

Sounds like your frame may be sagged on the driver side near the rear motor mount. This is not uncommon after 80 years of use.
When doing a body off restoration this is one of the first things most restorers will check.
It will also usually effect the alienment of the drivers side door at the rear ?

my hood is tweaked because of disasembly & warpage ............... not well stored . steve

So, this must be at the bottom correct? If your frame has sagged enough to allow your hood to over lap at the bottom by 1", you should be able to detect it with a good eye, looking along the top of your apron area, and comparing both sides.

Your frame could be bent from a hit. Try and take some frame cross measurements underneath the car. It could also be the alignment of the body and or the radiator. Try loosening the radiator spring mounts and twisting. Remove the rods first then readjust them after. There is some play in the radiator mounting and it may have been removed and put back unaligned.

Might want to check the 'shims' under the cowl. I replaced the wood blocks in my coupe and found that the cowl shims were non-existent. After I replaced the wood, I had to shim the cowl to get the hood to align correctly.

There are three (or four) round shims between the cowl and the splash apron.

Disconnect battery

You don't have to remove the body to do this, but you should loosen ALL the body bolts.

Also, be sure to loosen the steering support bracket (no need to remove) before trying to lift the body at the cowl.

Remove the GAV

Remove the starter push rod / pedal

Remove the gas pedal (screw on/off)

Disconnect the speedo cable at the torque tube (to prevent bending/binding cable)

I used blocks of wood and using a hydraulic jack I was able to lift the body enough to insert all the body blocks and insert new shims under the cowl.

Took some tweaking to get all the parts to line up again, but I got rid of MANY rattles and squeaks.

Go slow and watch for any parts that might hang up/snag/stretch/bind/break before lifting the body.

Just some random - probably overkill - thoughts
