There could be some frame sag in the rear motor mount area, this is common . There are so many possibilities that a person can only guess without hands on adjustment .
Purdy, I think there could be some frame sag, but my goal is to get the alignment like it was before I replaced the radiator. There was a gap, but not this bad. I will start on the many good suggestions I have received to see if I can make it better.
do any of you guys feel he will end up elongating the mounting holes in the front cross-member?
You may have to add a fiber washer/shim between the shell and the front of the hood rod to push the hood back if need be. I don't like to do this unless absolutely necessary... as sometimes they show.
Have the same issue on a 31 Tudor. Seems like the answer lies with the forward hinge rod retainer. Have looked at pictures of new ones and they seem to have an integral rod stop within the retainer which would accomplish the same thing as a synthetic washer at the end of the rod which would push the hood aft. The forward edges of my hood are in contact with the rad shell and actually wore the paint off the edge. Welcome any thoughts on the proper way to hold the hood back and close the gap between the cowl and hood.
