Home Made Crossmember

Hello, thought I'd share my homemade front crossmember that we built. We weren't satisfied with how low the front sat on my truck and decided to build our own crossmember. Granted there are after market crossmembers, but this one sits lower and cost $10 bucks to build. We decided to notch the frame rails of the AA frame to make sure there was enough clearance for the front spring but overall very happy with how it came out. Figured I'd share some pictures with you folks for future ideas.

Its a dropped crossmember to lower the front of my truck. Its a 3 inch lower plus minus a few leafs and I gained a 4 inch lowered front end for 10 bucks.

Funny indeed, nope I don't have to worry about a hand crank to start my small block v8. This frame is for another project, not the Model A Coupe and you gotta love them wheels on the coupe lol ok, not really, they are just my rollers, someone had redrilled my brake drums to chevy bolt pattern and I haven't got a hold of steelies yet so I just slapped the Olds Cutlass wheels on it to be able to move it around. Hopefully I'll have my 289 installed in a week and I'll put a picture up.

Your going to find the drag link hitting the radius rod when you hook it up. If you go to a shorter pitman arm it may help a little. Or change the location of the steering box.
You can lower the A by just removing a couple of leafs from the spring and get away with it. I was sucessfull in dropping the front of my speedster, took alot of fab work around 40 hours. I would not do it again.

Thanks for the tip Wick, I have a couple of different steering boxes and sit pretty low, so I think all should be good with the drag link and pitman arm. This is the 1st time tackling a project like this and it sure has been a learning experience.
