Has anybody installed this system ? I'm thinking of using it - Presently I have a Holly 390 Thats work great- Just thinking EFI 36fordguy

It appears to be a TBI. Like the earlier 4 injector units. Some of the guys on the HAMB and maybe on here as well have put together port injection systems out of various parts and using various controllers. I'm sure a throttle body type system could be set up to work with all the adjustability of the controllers. They are kind of pricey though but not as bad as some.

I haven't had much luck getting a system working well. But I'm using allot of junk yard parts. I've learned from others that using a TB system is't much better than a Carb, because it's still a wet manifold. My next system will be a Megasquirt system for a Ford302. This is rather inexpensive as far as the computer is concerned, but you have to add bungs to the intake for 8 injectors. THis is a dry system and has better economy. and is a multi port system. I'd like to find a Canadian Mercury alum intake, but the prices are abit high , so I'll use an old Offy 4bl unit

All this has been on the back burner, because I've been building a track roadster. LIke to Lap Loudon at a hundred plus

If you are planning on using this on a Flathead, according to their info, the engine better be putting out 250 HP or more in order to effectively work.

Would be interesting to know what they base that on...to low airflow through the throttle body ??
Injectors usually work ok even if they are a bit to big for the aplication.

May have more to do with the flow rate through it than the injectors themselves. To work on a flathead the injector size and the flow rate would have to match the engines demands.

What it boils down to is demand. A small displacement engine won't demand much. Those fuel systems should have some information about what displacement range it would be suitable for. It's kind of a unique unit having built in control for a smaller package but I don't know how well it can take the punishment of a hot engine compartment. Near all the muscle car V8s of the 60s are over 200 HP but the old flathead is way down on the HP list unless it's built pretty strong with a lot more displacement.

TBI unit from a 4cyl would be the budget alternative that fits a flathead...aiming for a dry manifold 8 injector system limits the scrapyard donors real quick.

I would think finding an injector body would be a piece of cake. The computer and sensors to control it not so much!

If you find a donor with a suitable CI and TBI the sensors and computer would work...or what am i missing here ??
Problem with a flathead is that even if its 239CI with an idle so low compared to a modern car the flow will be low.
Fair chance their will be a puddle of raw fuel in the manifold.

Well it wouldn't be like any of the injection systems I work with which are very engine specific. Most of my experience is with high performance 5.0s, but it doesn't take much of a change in engine parameters to require new programing. Maybe you work with something totally different, but that has always been my experience. Back to a flathead, I'm fairly sure if it was easy to accomplish there would be some around. And there may be, but I haven't seen one. I would have to check over on the HAMB and see if this is being done.

Low flow and a wet manifold with uneven runners isn´t exactly what´s on top on the wishlist for a perfect low range.
8 injectors and a wireharness all over the engine doesn´t make it eyecandy either...
Might be that the period correct look scares people away form it to.

I like Vergil's set up in his little pickup. He a several others have put the stuff under the manifold. Vergil used old hollowed out 97s for throttle bodies. His electrics are all under the cowl where the gas tank used to be. It made for a very clean looking set up but he put a hell of a lot of work into it too.

Well I have the Megasquirt unit from the 302 Ford. The nit is used and doesn't work according to the owner. My only option is to send it back to the factory for repair. My plan was to use the injectors from a 3.8 Buick (v6). I have the tank and pump from a 302. All this is junk yard stuff. Intake is in doubt now, I could use the Offy 4bl, but that's alittle over kill. I'll look for an alum Merc intake for a reasonable cost and use an early throttle body with out the injectors and all the 302 sensors. Engine is a 280ci (stock) flathead. Kind of an oxy moron. A 255 merc bored to 3 5/16 + .020 ". EAB heads. So I'll have a nice platform for testing. The engine is runningin my truck right now, power is exelent, but the fuel mileage is not so good. I just like to putz around learnig things. Might work, might not, but we won't know till we try. This setup is not very expensive??
