holley 94 rebuild kit questions

After great advise from this board, I am rebuilding my holley 94 as opposed to converting to a Stromberg 97. I'm going to look at a rebuild kit from one of the big box auto parts stores today, just wondering, what to look for in a China kit. Of course if it plainly says "Made in China", I'm passing it up and will be contacting a few on this board, but if not, what size jets would I be looking for? Accelator pump (spelling)? Any extra ports on gaskets that would typically not be there on the Chinese?
A gentleman in my local car club will be assisting me, as this is my first of this type, but I just want to make sure I'm using the correct parts.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Most have the wrong power valve and accelerator pump. Daytona Parts....386 427 7108 has the right stuff.

I wouldn't waste my time with Chinese parts at all. I just did mine and got my parts from ken ct here on ford barn, he has the right parts and the knowledge to steer you in the right direction. Better to do it with the ford guys who know there stuff and have the right parts

I couldn't agree more. Like I said, if it says China anywhere on the package, I'm sending it back, and contacting ken ct or Charlie. This is just a shot in the dark trying to see if I could source something worthwhile locally.

For sea level applications (below 5000ft), what size jets are best? I currently have 51's. I thought I read on here somewhere that 47's are the correct size, but I cannot find that thread now.

Thanks again,

.047's are not the right size. ken ct.

I think 51's are what they come with stock but a wise man once told me 49's were better all round below 5000 feet so I put them in and went down to 282 feet below sea level (in Death Valley) and they seemed to work fine. (Thanks Ken ct)

Here's the thread: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61964

Old Henry, that's the thread I was looking for, thanks. I couldn't remember the number, was thinking .047 for some stupid reason, could be back when i had hair, it was blonde.

This kit is made in the USA (Walker 15302B), but still gunshy on using it.

Gonna read some more.......

Thanks again to all

Rubber accelerator pumps are junk, most kits have a 7.5 PV which open too quick and kind of flood the engine. and have diff inlet needle assemb which are also junk in MO. Its just a loosing battle with them. You will only throw 1/2 the kit out and paying more for the correct parts in the long run.Your choice. ken ct. OMO.

Just found out that using smaller than stock jets makes the engine run hotter.

Although the 49's ken ct said to put in ran the engine OK and maybe saved some gas, the engine was running hotter than before until I just replaced the 49's with the stock 51's. Now my engine is running at least 20 degrees cooler. Just thought you might like to know.

Hey Weegee, with your schedule where are you going to find the time to rebuild your carb??? ken ct.

If you are running a single carb use #51 jets. #47s work real well in a dual carb set up. I am back to a single becouse I could not keep the right foot from trying to make a hole in the floor. Less fuel use now. Oh my!!
Buy a kit from Ken. It has all the good parts in it. Metal needle valve and leather acellerator pump. Its a small premium to pay over the imported stuff.

Again, original Holley jets marked .051 are not true hole size, they range from .0495 to .0505.I have jets with true size marked on them from .049 down to .035.Ive checked hundreds of holley .051 and have never found even 1 which measured .051 their smaller than marked.Anybody want to buy a quantity of them for a dollar a pair. I have hundreds of them LOL ken ct.

It is interesting the the the marking on the jets doesn't match the hole size. Even though the Holley catalog claims the marking equals the hole size. Makes me wonder what standard they are using. I've also measured them, Ken is right. They are a bit smaller than marked, like lumber.

Not all the sizes but some and .051 is one of them.Holley says they are drilled to flow rates not decimal size.:)
