Hinge mount Mirrors

What is the quality of the Hinge Mount rear view mirrors that most suppliers sell. Are they the best option for a outside rear view mirror? Is there a better option? I searched the forums and came up with nothing although I'm sure this has been discussed.

The first thing I bought for my car when I got it was the hinge mounted rear view mirrors. I replaces the allen screws with stainless screws because it looked more 30ish then the allen screws. Some members also put a concave 2" mirror on the passenger side mirror to get a better view of what was on that side.

From what I have seen the door post mirrors sold by the "A" vendors look like they will do the job, but the prices that are charged for them is absurd.:( If I had a closed body "A" I would look at the early to mid 60's VW door post mirrors. They are the round mirror ones and hopefully the
prices would be more reasonable.:) Just my .02 worth.:p

I recently installed some hinge mount mirrors and I'm very happy with them. They seem to be high quality but have only been on the car for a few months. They do take some getting used to while driving as they are mounted so high. I also installed a small convex mirror to help with the blind spots on passanger side.

I could describe my inside mirror to that of the bar mirrors mounted on a Harley sportster.............usless due to vibration, and it dosen't afford view in the blind spots on the 28 coupe. I bought a pair of hinge mount mirrors and never looked back! (LOL!) They truley are worth the expense and seem to be standing up nicely after a year or so on the road. Get em now.......my 2cents.
Be prepared to either enlrge the top hinge holes or cut down the size of the mirror stantions, as most will not fit the Model A Ford without some work.

The mirrors I got from Snyders work perfectly. They said that they would not work on the RH door, but with a little redneck engineering, it looks and works perfectly. I also got the hinge pin extractor from them, pushed the pins out OK after soaking in Liquid Wrench

I bought a set off of Ebay. They looked great, but were made out of cheap cast metal. They are the kind that mount with the upper door hinge pin. I got the drivers side on OK, but the passenger side snapped off before I could get the pin in it. I can barely adjust the drivers side mirror to be useful, but it's OK and better than nothing. Especially considering it's on a sport coupe.

The set I bought of brattons fit both sides without modifying anything. They took a total of 10 minutes to fit. I put a drop of loctite on the position lock screws just to make sure they don't vibrate loose.

I also have a set from Bratton's on my Town Sedan...have had them for about 4 years now, and no problems at all. Like many others, I finally added the convex mirror on the right side......works just great.......I sure wouldn't be without these, and mine have stayed night and tight.....highly recommend them!

mine are also always loose is their a trick to keep them from needing adjustment every time the door is opened ?? mine have been tighten loctited and still they keep coming loose , if i drilled tiny holes that lined up with the screws it would limit adjustment and i would have tiny holes where i now have scratches ??? what say yee ?
