High mileage oils

Some new oils are labeled as "high mileage".
Are high mileage oils for engines (cars) that have high miles on them?
Or for leaving in for extended high mileage?

synthetics........

Our honda was good for 3k miles with reg motor oil and then it was black as the night.
10k on synthetic and it looked like lightly colored honey. I reused it in my mowers and clunker cars.

Agree that synthetics generally go longer between changes, but in a Model A I think I'd only push that if I had an oil filter.

Here's an interesting discussion on "high mileage" oils.

Attached is the product data sheet from Valvoline for their 5W-20 "High Mileage" oil.

As i understand it.....high mileage oils have additives that swell gaskets such as valve cover gaskets and rear main seals to minimize oil leakage at those points.

I don't see much advantage for a Model A.....IMHO
