high compression head

I am soon to rebuild the engine for my 29 ccpu. It sounds like the 5.5 is the way to go but no one mentions having the stock head milled to raise compression. Is this a no no?

I have run both of Snyder's heads. They are both good. I have also run Brumfield's 5.9:1 and Yapp's Lion Speed Head 111. I actually like the Brumfield the best. Given the Brumfield heads are next to impossible to find, I'd go with the 6:1 Snyder's ...I agree with Purdy.."every little bit counts"...
The 6:1 and the 5.5:1 are currently not available from Snyder's. Call them to get an estimate of delivery date.
Regarding head stud torque: If you use Snyder's premium head gasket, the suggested torque is 55# with their HC heads.

Good Day All!

You can have thew stock head milled .125 and not gain .1 in compression. The problem is the combustion chamber design.

I have talked with Snyder's and the 5.5 heads are not due for 6 to 8 weeks. The 6.0 is undetermined. Even when they are ready the dealers will get the first off and that will take probably 1 or 200 out of the run.

The lowly C and F3 heads may start looking better and better . The F3 is a thicker casting and could be shaved. Either of these heads have the better heart shaped combustion chamber that is similiar to the police head, bf head and Snyder heads.
