Greetings my fellow Model A folks,
It has been over ten years since my last Hershey trip. I plan on being there Tuesday & Wednesday this year and just wanted to see if anyone has any tips for the best way to utilize my time to take it all in! I'm staying at the Scottish Inns & Suites in Harrisburg and plan on going straight to the fields Tuesday before checking in and should arrive there around 8a.m. is stuff goin on that early? I can't remember.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

You will notice a lot less vendors since your last visit and a lot of unused spaces. There is still stuff to be had, you just have to work a little harder. Enjoy your time there!

My best advice is first decide whether you are there to be a spectator -or to obtain parts. If your desire is the first one, then hang out in Chocolate N & S fields. If your desire is to find & secure parts, then post a list of your needs here and other places. Then compile a list of spaces that you need to visit based on who responds to your needs. Next use the Maps that are posted on the AACA to route your daily travels with a focus being on the priority of visiting that vendor's space. This has worked well for me.

I have mostly been a vendor this year, working to dispose of a the parts of a late friend. I was in Chocolate North. Traffic was pretty good. I sold a good bit, some at bargain prices because I want it gone. I didn't make a fortune but it was worth my time. An unfortunate byproduct of that was that I had less time to look and buy. I did buy a few things. I thought the supply of Model A parts was pretty good. Weather was about as good as it gets at Hershey. I am looking forward to the car show tomorrow.

I sold A & 32 parts in the north chocolate field Monday through Wednesday evening and thought crowd size was considerably down from years passed. At times the aisles were empty. I guess Hershey is following the trend of all swap meets with fewer vendors and spectators. :(

i was set up in the orange field. I was only able to be there on Tuesday and Wednesday. I've been going to Hershey off and on for 25 years. as far as foot traffic this was the lightest I've eve seen. Talking to others they also felt foot traffic was much lighter this year than in years past. I saw a lot of people walking around with nothing in their carts or backpacks.

Hey sconners, I made a sign out of cardboard and a thick sharpie stating I was looking for model AA Ford Parts, pretty much everybody I walked past saw it and those that had anything to say usually did. I think I got six contacts in the two days I was up there of possibilities for the unique parts I'm looking for to help complete my 1931 long wheelbase AA stake bed.
Also, as Milford stated it probably makes sense to start exactly at 0800 each morning, I was coming from Maryland so my starts were closer to 10 AM.

If you are still up there I hope you enjoy the car show… I'll be missing it this year.

I was there walking on Tuesday and Wednesday. Covered the whole flea market. Been going since 1958 and watched the event continue to grow until the 90's and then slowly shrink to what it was this year. Lots of empty spaces and others just used for parking. Still perks this old guy up. Prices were down a little in general but still there were some crazy high ones. Lots of A parts. Not much good sheet metal. Car coral continues to shrink and not many had prices displayed. Guess the auction has killed a lot of that. Hope to go next year.

I drove five straight hours (left my house at 3:20 a.m. and arrived around 8:45) on Tuesday. Proceeded to walk 8 miles and saw tons of stuff, I wasn't looking for anything specific just enjoyed the day, the people and the parts. Unfortunately I got badly sunburned and didn't even notice it until I got to the hotel that night. Wednesday I walked 10 miles and covered everywhere I hadn't on Tuesday. Wednesday I got there very early before 8 and most folks weren't even out of bed and not many had their stuff uncovered. It was nice watching this place open up and seeing the vehicles and parts become uncovered around 8:30. After a full day I stopped by the AACA museum which is always a fun stop! All in all I had a great time and even though I hadn't been in ten years, it was well worth the trip!
