I'm sure everyone found some gem they needed, for me it was the 1929 60C rear body section. Not that I was looking for it, it found me.........another future project. :D

Roadster 62,

Was your purchase the cabriolet body on the back of a pickup truck in the red field south of the stadium? If so, that may have been one of the best buys of the year at Hershey.

I found a couple NOS trinkets: 2 '29 radiator caps, 5 Shraeder dust covers, a brass water pump nut, 2 emergency return springs, etc.

Also bought an original "Ford Original Parts" 2' long oval sign. I've always wanted one to hang in the garage.

The best find was a '30 standard NOS wire loom that was on Dave Lopes' want list for his high school '30 coupe. Still recovering from his surgery he is preparing for his next Model A restoration. No doubt it will also be a masterpiece.

I am just now unpacking from Hershey. I had a great time seeing friends and meeting new folks. I had some great finds. Thursday seemed to be tire valve stem hardware day. I found seven Schrader 6300 TR-80 stems, two NOS, 8 Schrader 28/29 dust covers, one NOS, 14 NOS Schrader rim nut bushings, plus one Acme 30/31 dust cover in mint condition. I also bout a mint original 28' round tube radiator, a mint black steering wheel for my '29 RPU, a NOS 28/29 gas cap, a NOS '29 hub cap, several NOS brake rod return springs, a set of NOS field coils for a powerhouse generator, 6 NOS '29 king pin locking pins, plus lots of small trinkets. I saw a pretty good number of NOS fenders there this year. Can't wait till next year!

I found a pair of original stanchions for my roadster pickup and a pair of exterior door handles. Nothing major but they are things I needed to finish this puzzle.

I arrived Thursday with some members of our local Model A club and soon found a correct rear spare tire carrier for my early 30 Cabriolet. I've seen a number of carriers go by on fleaBay but never the right one.

Next came the search for the early 1930 stamped rear bumper cross brace that has three holes on each side. I was told by a vendor that they were very hard to find as they only appeared for a short time around January-April 1930. This is the type that has a bent tab for the third hole. The rest of the day was spent looking for the brace and well into Friday. We all had agreed to head for home at 3:00 PM on Friday. I was getting discouraged but pressed on (my legs were not happy) through Chocolate South. With 20 minutes to spare I spotted a good looking front splash apron for my buddy's 29 Tudor. While looking at the apron I saw across the table the brace I was looking for. I immediately saw that it was a very nice early '30 cross brace with no bends or cracks. Not only did the seller have the cross brace I was looking for but a set of rear bumper brackets to go with it! Needless to say I was very happy with my new finds.

Not a bad way to spend my first time at Hershey :)

I found a NOS left front welled fender, I need a right one also, any one got one? I also found a real nice radiator splash apron and a super radiar=tor shell that looks mint and is polished beautifully. I cant wait for next year. This was my second year.

I had a great time again this year, caught up with old friends. my first find was a 29 frame thats perfect, ive cleaned it up and put it away now. Took 2 days searching for brake rods, have 2 projects that need them.I have enough now.29 splash aprons that were nice I dident find till Thursday. never did find 2 rear n.o.s. fenders for a 30 pickup. I found 3 oil pump splash guards. The last 30 days ive spent picking the east, ive had in my truck; Cowls for A's T's and a chevy,n.o.s parts by the bucket full.4 sets of 1927 chevy disc wheels,3 sets of 21" wheels, fenders, trunk lids, sheetmetal, windshield frames. I even helped load up the back 1/2 of that 29 blindback that went to Hershey. Its been a fun Month!

Dang! Are you trying to collect the complete set? Good hunting!

I sure wasn't looking for it...but there it was, staring at me!...
After a debate on which isle to go down... my dad won... 3-4 spots in... there it was.. in the back... with oil cans and whatnot... (I didn't skip his isle choosing advice the rest of the week)...luckily someone colored the word in so I noticed it quickly... took quite a chunk out of my tight budget for this year, even though it was cheap by Winfield standards......
I was very excited.......for about 200ft... then it got HEAVY for the other 1/2 mile back to the truck! :D

Since I had such great results swapping from an aluminum Cyclone with pretty high compression, to a cast iron 6:1 Winfield... I've just fallen in love with them that much more...
I'll buy every one I can afford! ;)

Thursday was great ! I found the two lower door hings I need for my 31 Pickup at a great price of $25 they are in very good shape . Then ran across a block with pistons and crank looked real good and the seller did not want to carry it home got it for $50. Then I had to carry it home , but luckwas with me 2 booths down was a hand truck (tube typefor lugage ) for $5 save my back . Got block home and numbers show it to be Aug 1930 and pistons have .020 walls and crank look great

Had a great time just wish I could have going back on Friday

Question. From inexperience at Hershey. Do you pay the vendor his asking price w/o much haggling? I've been told if it is something you need or want, and you come back later chances are VERY good it will be gone.

Haggling is part of the fun... but if you need it... don't insult the person with an ungodly low price...and as you stated...if you walk on and think about it... it won't be there when you come back...or you won't be able to find it again!
