Hershey car show

Does the Hershey show have much Model A stuff anymore ? I live in south Mississippi and we don't have any large Model A shows around here.

I will have several boxes of Model A Stuff there in Chocolate Field Space CG-34, almost under Light Pole # 58. There will be a lot of others there with lots of Model A Stuff. This will be my first time as a vendor there. If you have never been to Hershey, you really should go!

I haven't been to Hershey for 3 years, but I did notice the last time I was there the NOS sheet metal for Model A's was almost non-existent.

I was hoping to make Hershey for sure this year, but right now it doesn't look good again.

NOS stuff is gone by mid afternoon on Tuesday. :D

Year's ago i would pull into Hershey Tuesday morning early. Not really to buy parts because i don't like to double back when everyone will be setup by late Wed. Afternoon. I just sit there and watch all the action as the fields fill up:cool:. It is really a site to see. We as a group pull out on Sunday morning and pass the fields for one last time.. At 9:30 A.M. it looks like there was not even a show. Empty tents and poop houses:eek:.. A bunch of High school kids picking up garbage.:( We are trying to put a meeting for 180A's and restoration tips maybe on Friday??? Might be in our 180a news letter.

Come on up. There will be plenty of A stuff. Maybe not so much NOS, but plenty to enjoy. And so many Fordbarners to visit. Closer in we will post a list of our spaces to visit. I and my partner will have A stuff and 32 Ford stuff. Clem

Pick up a program and look at the A vendors, theres 1 I know of that list nos parts. Ask around also. Bring your wagon or a buggy, hand truck with a tub mouted to it,you will need it.
Some of my best finds have been on Thursday...
I was not going to bring that much stuff but 2 weeks ago I brought home a pile of n.o.s. 51 Ford stuff, this Saturday ive got a 24' enclosed trailer packed full being delivered. I started boxing stuff up last week.
Hershey decals came yesterday.

I put on the old hiking boots and walk the entire swap meet at least once. Perhaps there is not as much NOS sheet metal as there has been but if you look, you will find.

It amazes me how much you can find if you dig. The best digging is usually in the non Model A booths. That is, if you are looking for NOS or other items to swap/share with guys doing fine point restorations.

If you are looking to keep your Model A in shape for tours, shows or daily use, or are elbow deep into a restoration, the Model A booths are great because you will find what you need and someone to talk about A's.

Being a very early 28 guy (I'm so early that I'm really a '27 guy) it is tough to find those needles in the Hershey haystack. However, the perverbial needles can be found. For example, I bought the on-off-dim switch that I will use on A495 at Hershey. It was laying on the ground with some, slight surface rust. I picked it up and saw 500 on it. Well I walked up to the vendor and asked how much he'd take for it he said $5. My hand was shaking when I gave him the money. If you know what you are looking for there are still parts and deals to be had.

Remember, if you are in a space and are interested in something keep it in your hand. If you set it down it might be gone in a blink. Also, most guys will accept an offer of 10% or more off their price.

Man, just talking about Hershey I get pumped up. Wow, just a month away.

33 Days to Hershey.
I cant get away from that early stuff...seems every load of parts I get has a piece of it in there. Im bringing a early steering arm and draglink,I think theres also a steering box and a shock arm or two. 1 brake light switch that I know of.
My 1 dollar pile will be loaded up with stuff on Wednesday over in Brian Partins spot.
His Wife Caren will be the Boss.

I walked 18 miles in two days last year.

If you have never been to Hershey fall car show you are missing something. All swap meet and car corral spaces are on black top.Car show on grass. about 1100 cars in car corral about 9400 flea market spaces..You can not cover swap area in one day.Plenty of motels.I am a member of the Hershey Region and help to put this show on. Hope to see you there.:)

I agree with Dean. Stuff is definately still out there and available to those that dare to dig through boxes for it. I have too many success stories of Hershey finds to list. I'll see you all there again this year. I just booked my flight last night and am already pacing with excitement!

I've covered it in a day-because I had to-only day I had. But, I was really really tired and couldn't find those needles in a hay stack. I've found more stuff in the Hershey trash piles than at some other car shows period.

Why do I always find the really good things the farthest from where I parked and when it is raining?

If you don't wear good walking shoes and bring a raincoat to Hersey you might as well stay home, girlyman.:)

Im breaking in a pair of Hershey shoes now....Last year after the second day they starting leaking. Dont forget Sunblock! Baby wipes will clean the dirt off of ya and make ya feel good im told. I prefer the water in the cooler.
This time next month ill be kicken back in the campground waiting.....

From personal experience, there are good places, there are close places, there are reasonable places, but I don't think you will have much luck finding a good close reasonable place this late. I have heard of people who have found good deals in some of the nearby smaller towns, but I really don't know the area well enough to give you much advice.

It isn't close, but I am not sure how far away you have to be. North of Harrisburg on Rt 15 may a something to look at if you can't get closer. Some really nice motels in Selinsgrove-about an hour north of Hershey-15 is a major highway north-south.

Jeff/Illinois-no need to look for foreign bedbugs-there are more than enough local and domestic ones to go around. Please disinfect your luggage before you visit us in
the Commonwealth.

Just for added joy, October 9th is a home game for Penn State football. All of those 100,000 fans have got to be staying somewhere. It's also a home game for Delaware and the University of Pennsylvania plays at Bucknell in Lewisburg-13 miles further up 15 from Selinsgrove.
