Hershey and Taxes

I remember last year the vendors were complaining about the local taxing issue which kept some vendors out as well as some vendors only taking orders at Hershey. Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved or will vendors like Roy stay away again.

Since Penn. stepped in and started charging taxes, I don't think any thing will change. Not everybody was charging tax. I found that individuals won't charge. But the regular merchants were.

I think there was something posted last year that they let the "little fish" go. Something about the number of sales and dollar volume??

AACA requires a valid PA tax ID number to rent a space. Thus, all vendors (space owners) must report sales twice a year and pay tax on the amount reported. Whether the vendor explicitly charges a tax at the time of sale is irrelevant, the vendor is liable for paying the tax. The issue with the large (out-of-state) vendors was more complicated - it partly dealt with how much of their total sales volume could be attributed to, and taxed by, PA.

The problem wasn't the sales taxes imposed on Hershey sales, which have been in place for many years, but rather an attempt by the State of Pennsylvania to tax sales to Pennsylvania residents by the larger vendors during the rest of the year along with income taxes on those sales with a mountain of attendant paperwork.
