Here is an intereting problem

The same law applies. It's called "false patent marking". At $500 fine per item, the stakes could be huge.

I wouldn't know what to think if somebody reproduced parts with the old patent numbers to be an accurate reproduction. Are all those little repro plates we buy for the firewall in violation? Are we all crooks? That article does not show anybody trying to right a wrong,or make reparations for damage or loss,it looks as if those people are out looking for a way to line their pockets, nothing more.I have dealt with a quite a few lawyers, and most all are just doing their job. Then there are those that are the only form of life lower than a syphilis germ,(quote from my lawyer)that ruin it for the rest.

I think the way they get around it is, they are not labeling the product, you are and because you are not claiming to have patent rights to the orig product no law is broken. Besides, also all patents are only good for 15-20 years (depending on type of product it is). I think Shakespeare was right..... Killem all..

Thanks. I hope to flesh out the section with car pictures soon with the help of a photographer friend.

I was just joking.... After 30 years in law enforcement, I know a few lawyers... some of them are actually decent.... just not many of them.

I probably should not show this to my sister who is a Harvard Law School Graduate.:D

Does this thread qualify as having political views outside of the original question pertaining to Model A parts?
I believe no one is serious but remeber there are lawyers that like Model A's. Just ask our true real founder that no one ever mentions.

As a retired lawyer, I usually keep my head down when the lawyer jokes start flying. But after 40 years in the business, I have found that most lawyers would be out of business if people did the right thing voluntarily, like not use patent numbers that are not their own. Model A owners have no worries, they are not claiming or representing the patent plate numbers as their own. It no different than using a tool with a patent number on it. In Cambodia, they really did kill all the lawyers, and in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union the only lawyers allowed were party hacks. Think it through.

A number of years ago my work often placed me in the company of a high-powerer attorney in Atlanta. He collected lawyer jokes and was always eager to pass them on. Go figure.
