I have 28 roadster. ..when I fill the water in the radiator and go down the road it seems to boil over and make a mess on my hood.
I think it is running about 190 checked with a temp probe into th water..

I am afraid to travel far as I am worried about the engine.antonee offer suggestions? ?? .
I am in Mechanicsville va.
Also. Looking for decent Rims. One of mine has a Crack and another is wobbling.

Water in the radiator expands when it gets hot.

If you fill it to the top when it is cold, as the engine warms up, it will expand and blow out. It will also find it's own level, so if you want to drive it and let it blow out, until it stops, and then wash off the front of your car, and check to see if you can still see water in there, you should be fine.

If it is half way up the top tank, somewhat level with the Ford logo, you're good.

Sounds like you need a new gasket on your radiator cap. Water should be going out the overflow instead of around the cap and on the hood.

I had the same trouble with mine. When I changed the gaskets for the radiator cap it quit leaking all over the hood , however, it continued leaking out the overflow. I tried Bill's tip with the nail in the overflow tube in the radiator and was still losing water. I have since installed a thermostat in the top hose and I am not losing water anymore.

Bill, there are quite a few threads addressing the same issue which you might care to search through.

I'm sure there's also a smart-arse* line linking your problem and where you live, but I can't quite nail it! If anyone else comes up with it, just remember that I ALMOST thought of it first!
