I would like to clean up the threads and even shorten a 35 headlight bolt to use on my 36. What thread size are they?? As far as I can see they look like a 11/16"-18 which would be similar to a tie rod end pattern? How will I ever find a die to fit this? help please!

I had a problem finding nuts to fit my 36 headlights. I took it to the local Nut & Bolt supplier in my area ( Tacoma Screw) and they said that they thought it was a metric thread. They gave me a couple of huge nuts that fit correctly. You might take itinto your local nut & bolt shop and have them identify the threads. It's cheaper thqn buying a die and finding it was wrong.

Henry would not have dared used metric!!!! haha Its a 11/16" 18 thread the Problem is that I need to cut some more threads. I have the nuts

Ford made a spacer so that they could use the 35-37 pickup buckets with the shorter headlight stands used on at least some of the big trucks. The situation would seem similar using a 35 passenger bucket on a 36. It worked well on the truck application...wonder how using a spacer would work on yours. Seems like it might be easier than cutting and rethreading.

I agree. I was just caught off guard when i grabbed the 3/4" die and it was loose. Thought It would be a 10 minute deal until I was confronted with 11/16" I could also also cut them and tig weld back together. Its just that the threads are kind of sketchy and really wanted to run a die over them to clean them up.

just goggle mcmaster-carr they have the dye you need & the nuts & a million other things every shop schould have them in there favorits

Get a nut and cut it through on a 15% angle close this up with vice gripes as you screw it on it will clean the threads.
