I need help with a pattern for the rhs and lhs door window glass for my 1934 Ford 3 Window Coupe in South Africa.
I have tried to find original glass to use as a pattern in the whole of South Africa, but no chance.
Is there anybody that could help out with the patterns or knows where to obtain them from.
I have a shipping agent in California USA.

I would like to pay for the patterns and shipping costs within the USA, of course.

Kindest regards

I got all the glass for my 34 jalopy from Auto City Classic in Isanti Minnesota. The whole car, cut to fit. Shipping to SA would be a killer, however, the good news is I made a wood pattern for the door glass to use as a mock up to get the riser and tracks all working right. I still have it, I think I even know where it is (miracle). and could mail you a tracing.

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME, the wood would not be an issue i think to get to SA with my Shipping Agent, its a lot lighter and i could use it on my car as well!!
What do you think?!?
Pattern / tracing would be awesome as well, could make a wood template here too.
Cas, did you give Auto City Glass your wood templates to cut the glass accordingly or did you make the template from their ready to install glass? I know there are glass manufacturers that have the original patterns to cut by. I did as ask them if they would send me the patterns, but they did not want to.
Kindest regards

Auto City has patterns for all kinds of classic cars, so I just got the whole set from them and made my wood pattern while fighting with the window installation. I'll just make you a paper pattern and mail it, send me the shipping when you get it.

34 doors and windows are a terrible thing to work on as you can hardly get your hand in anywhere. Send me your address.

Fordson,
You can request the Ford Engineering Drawing for the window glass from the Benson Ford Research Center. They can send you an electronic copy of the drawing for $30. This will provide you with an exact pattern. Then you can have the glass cut locally.
Alternatively, you can contact Sanders ReproGlass at www.sandersreproglass.com They have the patterns and can make the glass to original specifications with whatever options you want such as the Ford date "bugs" or the black edging treatment that Ford used to do to all glass when they couldn't seal the laminate sufficiently. Those options are your choice.
I had a full set of glass made by Sanders for my 1935 Ford Model 51 truck and it all fit perfectly and came exactly with the options I wanted. Check them out on line and see if this works for you.

For whatever it's worth, here is a guy that has one of those old pattern 'rolls' that was common to glass shops, back in the day. Those old pattern rolls have patterns for almost any make/model imaginable, Fords and everybody else. You got a 1932 Rockne? He has the patterns. This guy has provided glass for two of my old Fords, and the glass has all been perfect. For my 34 sedan, he provided ALL of the glass.
Be prepared to talk about tempered/laminated, and tint (in various colors), or clear.
He ships.

He's been there for at least a dozen-plus years that I know of.

Thank you guys, that is all good news, a few leads to check out. A paper pattern is best, shipping glass is really expensive.
I will have it cut to size, but will do a masonite or wood pattern like cas recommended.
I will use laminated glass in SA of about 6.3mm thickness. It can still be corrected, whereas baked glass cannot. There is not so much choice about the tint and etchings here, so it will be straight forward.
Kind regards
