I am helping a friend with some restoration work on a 30 coupe. I have posted 2 pictures of areas we have questions about. He took a lot of pictures before and during disassembly, but couldn't find any of the two areas we have questions about. The first picture is of the outside of the top of the drivers door post (hinge side) where it meets the front of the panel over the door. There is a gap between the door post and the panel over the door where the screwdriver is pointing. The question is: Should this area be tack welded together or be left as is? It seems like it should be tack welded to finish it nicer, but we can't tell if it was tack welded before he took the car apart. The second picture is of a pair of brackets he can't remember where they are installed. He thinks they were used inside in the area of the back part of the quarterpanel windows. If anyone can remember when they were restoring a 30 or probably a 31 coupe the answers to the 2 questions. Any help would be appreciated.
