Help! What part is this called?

In the picture you can see the flat black piece that would be directly underneath the windshield between the gas tank and dash rail. That's what I am looking at trying to find the name of, so searching by correct name would really help. I was thinking it was part of the dash rail but all dash rail pics do not look like it would cover go up and directly under the windshield. Any help is appreciated.

Bert's catalog calls it: "Dash rail center brace". They have a 28/29 and a 30/31 roadster center brace listed in their catalog.

I believe what you want is called a "Dash Rail". I think the dash rail center brace is the part that is permanently attached to the body that the gas tank sets on. The Dash Rail is the piece that sits on top of the gas tank and also forms the front edge of the cockpit.

Original ones seem to be hard to find in decent condition.

Brookville does make a reproduction bit it takes some work to make it fit correctly.

My opinion and experience.

From the April 1, 1932 Ford Body Parts List, it was officially referred to as the Front Belt Rail. As others have indicated, various vendors, etc. may have different names for it. You could send them this scan to avoid confusion and possibly receiving the wrong part. Good luck.
