Help, Start Problems

Changed my mind about filter, it was full of crap. Replaced with new filter in front of pump, still low level of gas in filter, light came on (brain fart) pump only pumps gas when carb. ask for more by opening needle and seat. Starts up when cold, drive 10-20 mi. won't start when hot. Wait 15-20 min. starts up, driving me nuts.

I have finally devised a inline fuel pressure gauge. My readings at idle range between 2 psi and 1 psi with an occasional dip to zero. I have read here that fuel pressure should be at 2.5 - 3.5 psi. I have in the past rebuild the fuel pump with a refurb kit.
Again, the car seems to run fine at speed, but, cuts out at idle and wont restart. If it is the case that pressure should be higher, what can I do to get the pressure within range?

Guys I lived this issue (I think) for 4 years I suggest if you can do a quick test set the point gap to approximately .019 NOT the .014ish range. When I set the points multiple times to the .13 range same issue. If setting them to .019 improves the situation then send the distributor to Skip in FL who will fine tune it. My 2 cents

My start problem went away after cleaning all contact points on the ballast resistor, I had no spark to the plugs. After cleaning the resistor located under the dash, left of the steering column, starts up. Al
