Help Seeking Engine Hoist

I have a rebuilt flathead which is secured to a pallet at my in-laws in Hillsboro, Oregon. When I visit next week, my plan was to use a hoist to pick it up and lower it into the bed of the pickup truck. My father-in-law doesn’t have a hoist so I was planning to rent one from a local store/rental company. I’ve phoned all (NAPA, O’Reilly, AutoZone, Advance, etc, etc, etc) auto stores and rental companies and no one rents a hoist. Seems that my only option is to rent a forklift for the day, which is pricey.

If you live in the area and know where I can rent an engine hoist, please chime in. I need a solution.
Thanks!

If you are driving through Boise Idaho you can stop and borrow mine. Drop it off on the way back

I rented one from our local equipment rental store.

If you just need a chain hoist (you must have an overhead beam to lift from) I have one you can have. We are about 20 miles east of Portland (Hillsboro is about 20 miles west).

Thank you for the kind offer but I’m flying out and driving back. On the drive back to Mass we will be passing through Boise and visiting the Wendell wrecking yard and a lot more. Planning a two week casual drive.
Thanks,
-Mike

Karl, Thanks for the offer! That could work. I’ll ask my father-in-law if there is an overhead beam in the storage bay and will PM you if it’s an option.

Thank you,
-Mike

I know Home Depot rents out tools that includes lifting equipment but I don't know about other hardware stores in different locations. There are dollies that have crank up lifting capability like a light duty fork lift.

Harbor Freight has a nice chain hoist kit if you have an overhead I-beam. I used that in my parents garage to pull an engine from an Inboard Ski boat for my sister. Was a lot easier than the tractor and boom I was planning.

Another option might be a 2-wheel dolly and some long ramps depending on the pallet size and if you have any help or not.
