Help open 36 spare tire lock

Even better is to remove the setscrew and then drill a small hole in the center of the back. You can then use a punch to push out the lock cylinder unharmed.

Fordy6 From info gained on here if you look at the posts all you have to do is remove a screw that holds the tumbler inthe body and pull it out..Then there are numbers on that tumbler that you can send to a guy and he can make you keys for your lock tumbler..Look Look on here

I have 2 fairly nice 36 spare tire lock covers, However no keys. From what I am reading here, I can drill out the old locks and replace the lock portion (not the body) portion. Question is? Who sells the lock portion only?? Thanks in advance, Dan
Dan,
I keep a stock of both Hurd or Briggs and Stratton lock cylinders once you successfully extract the old one. There are a couple of options which I have used recently to remove the cylinder that didn't permanently harm the lock assembly.

Does anyone have or know where I can get the entire spare tire lock assembly? All I have is the sheet metal cover and a big hole in it about the size of a 50 cent piece.
