Help needed with Morton abd Brett head.

All the head bolts have been removed. Head is loose and will come up over 1/2 inch. We can't get the pushrods out and they are stopping the head from being removed. I have been unable to find anyone with experience with one of these heads.

Do you have the side cover off? The pushrods could be adjustable at the lower end and not letting you pull them out. You said bolts - do you mean studs? Have you removed the studs or just the nuts? Bent studs can make it hard to get a head off.

Some early OHV conversions were intended to use the stock tappets
That said the pushrods could have a larger foot to ride on the top of the tappet and also
be the lash adjuster

Pictures can help tons

OK, Model A engines with OHV conversions have pushrods. I was referringf to the original Model A engines. Point taken.

No reason the pushrods should not just pull out of the head and block. Take the side cover off and see what's stopping them from pulling out. Pictures would speak 1000 words . Good luck

"They do when they have a Morton and Brett OHV head."

And the Riley Two-Port OHV. Mine has them for the intakes that are located in the head. The exhaust valves are the normal Model A type still in the block.

The 1930 Buick has the pushrods captured at the block with extra valve springs down there. The pushrods will not come out without removing the capturing hardware.

There could be a buildup on the pushrods preventing them coming out
Gemsa Morales had these issues with the tubes running thru the ports
